In training…TMG talks TV and engineering

We see 2015 shaping up as a year of growth and fun opportunities for The Mathews Group training practice. We are embracing opportunities to train current and new clients on owned media content creation, visual storytelling techniques, writing skills, and communications.

We’ve started at full speed this year with two of our clients: CNN and Lockheed Martin.

As you might imagine, launching a new television network is not easy. In addition to all the technical issues, there’s the matter of making sure you have a staff operating with a shared editorial vision.  Especially if you’re CNN.  That’s where we came in to help.  In January, we developed two new training modules for CNN Content Sales as part of its training and consulting program to broadcast affiliates. We created materials for an overview of broadcast writing and two priority focus areas. The project drew on Katherine’s experience in newsroom management and developing the in-house writing training program for CNN during her tenure with the newsgroup and Melissa’s experience as a former CNN producer and copy editor.

We love engineers and innovators for the amazing things they create, but in our work with them they tell us they want to do a better job explaining what they do. January brought us the opportunity to present a seminar on effective communication for student engineers at the Miami University College of Engineering and Computing Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute. The students were enthusiastic participants in our seminar that explored communications principles in ways that engineers can uniquely understand.

We believe in empowering everyone to be better communicators and welcome the opportunity to meet your training needs with one of our fun, relevant and memorable trainings. Please let us know how we can partner with you.
