We happen to be a team of women, but we like to watch baseball and drink beer with the best of them! For those of us who follow baseball, the World Series is a big deal. This year, the San Francisco Giants are facing off against the Kansas City Royals. The Royals’ haven’t been to the playoffs since 1985. (That’s 29 years!)
I always root for the underdog. I just can’t help myself.
Being a fan is about supporting your team, whether they are having a winning season or a losing one. And, I know something about this. I live in Portland, Oregon – two words for you… Trail Blazers.
But back to baseball. Our very own (and very lucky) Katherine Brennecke was fortunate enough to score tickets to Game 2 of the World Series. The Royals won the game 7-2, and we like to think she was the charm. Admittedly, she is a Braves fan at heart but loves the game no matter who’s playing. “I’ve been a baseball fan since college. My dad says it’s because I watched Bull Durham one too many times. But it also has a lot to do with the fact that I went to a lot of baseball games in college because, as a smaller satellite campus in the University of South Carolina system, USC Aiken didn’t have football. We had great baseball though, so my friends and I spent a lot of time at the ballpark.”
And truly, what could be better than watching baseball and eating hotdogs with friends in the ATL. “After almost 20 years in Atlanta, I’m definitely a Braves fan. But when a friend says they have an extra ticket to the World Series, it doesn’t matter who’s playing, I’m going!”
